The Mondrian Hotel is a 39-storey, 315-key hotel located in downtown Auckland, close to the waterfront and beside its sister hotel, the SO/ by Sofitel. The hotel was originally designed as a Novotel, but the design upgrades and replanning introduced by G2A Studio led to it being taken up by SBE for the prestigious Mondrian brand — the first in the Southern Hemisphere.

The design incorporates a triple-height lobby and a double-height sky bar, with a rooftop pool and deck. The building is distinguished by its curved projecting façade and large modulated screen, inspired by an Issey Miyake fashion design.

This hotel represents a project that is very important to the directors of G2A Studio, who have invested significant passion in making this one of the most outstanding hotel and tower buildings in Auckland. We see it as a jewel within Auckland’s waterfront district.
