Client: Queenstown Hotels International
Operator: Capstone
Project Value: > $30M NZD
Role: Architecture, Interior Design, Project Management
Key Design Idea: Traditional luxury mountain lodge
Outcome: Repositioned a mid-scale hotel to an upper-scale offering
The hotel began life in 1987 as a premium hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand, and quickly gained a reputation as one of the country’s finest luxury lodges. With interiors originally designed by renowned New Zealand designer Virginia Fisher, the hotel carries a strong sense of nostalgia and heritage.
It became one of Queenstown’s most beloved properties and has been described as “opulent yet uniquely intimate in design, and supremely positioned in a dramatic setting suspended above the Shotover River.”
G2A Studio is leading the refurbishment and regeneration of the hotel, restoring the property to its former glory while elevating its status. The project will enhance the hotel’s amenities and extend the existing facilities to incorporate a unique and exclusive destination spa and wellness retreat.
