Lakehouse
Arlesey, UK
Graham Applin won the competition to design a highly contemporary country house to be built on a ‘Greenbelt’ area under a new Planning Policy Guideline (PPG7) allowing development of the countryside if the project was of significant architectural quality. The house was exhibited at the Royal Institute of British Architects and published in the national newspapers including a special 2-page feature in the Sunday Times. The design had a BREAAM ‘excellent’ rating being ‘zero’ energy and ‘zero’ emissions and earned Graham Applin to be named by the RIBA as one of the top 5 residential designers in the UK.
