The Ritz Carlton

Dubai

The Ritz-Carlton resort was designed and constructed in two phases. The first phase consisted of a 250-key resort hotel, while the second phase added a further 150 keys and a conference centre.

The design brief given to Graham Applin was to follow the architectural principles of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Its proportions and ornamental detailing were closely studied, resulting in a Moorish-inspired architectural language for the hotel.

The Ritz-Carlton went on to receive numerous design awards and set a precedent for the architecture of large resort hotels worldwide.
